It’s only been a month since we officially released LoadPal, Microdea’s mobile capture app with automated indexing and TMS integrations. The product is already in a few of our customer’s hands and many more aren’t far behind.
As the Director of Product Management at Microdea, I’ve been thrilled with the response so far and with the ability of our team to quickly respond to feedback, make improvements, and strengthen the foundation of LoadPal.
The First Month of Mobile Capture
In the month since we launched, we focused on improving the experience for drivers. Some of the items include:
- Improved scroll performance on iOS devices
- Tweaked the swipe-to-refresh-loads action to make it easier to use
- Started sending drivers confirmation notifications when documents are sent
- Updated our technology stack and fixed a variety of bugs
In the short term, we will continue polishing the driver experience and optimizing the infrastructure to help with scaling as more customers are brought on.
Over the longer term, we plan to focus on three key areas.
1. Image Quality and Size Improvements
To minimize mobile data usage, while maintaining the quality of images, we’re currently in the process of releasing updates that:
- Use the image format that generates the smallest size for the best quality image (for use in Synergize and print) depending on the color filter being used (like png for colour images)
- Optimize the backend process so that captured documents can get into Synergize and checked into your TMS as quickly as possible
2. Offline Mode Capabilities
Because drivers regularly travel through dead zones and drop off loads in areas with low or limited internet access, the ability to use the mobile capture app while offline is important. As such, we plan to give truck drivers the ability to capture documents and have them queued up to be sent automatically once the internet is available again, just like Outlook’s Outbox.
3. Additional Integrations
We will also be integrating LoadPal with a customer success platform and a payments processor. This will make purchasing and renewing licenses on our website quick and easy, and will allow our customer success team to better assist your drivers with using the app correctly and consistently.
The 2019 LoadPal Roadmap
With 2019 not far down the road, we are of course already considering what’s next and plotting our path forward.
Some items that have come up are: more TMS integrations, signature capture, integrations with other driver apps, alternate login mechanisms, and a variety of other features.
In the months to come, we will continue to prioritize items based on the feedback we receive from current and potential customers.
