The use of Workflow and the returns gained by using it have been clear for many years. The Internet increases the potential and allows outside client organizations to participate in your Workflow process. Using Web-based Workflow tools allows customers, remote employees and suppliers easy access to the business processes.

An example of Web-based Workflow:  An Accounts Payable (AP) unit receives invoices for approval and payment. Workflow works extremely well when there are exceptions to the invoices. In this case the invoice contains an error and needs to be corrected. The supplier has access to workflow queues via the Web and, with e-mail notification that an invoice is being contested, frees up AP staff to continue other duties. The Supplier updates their system, corrects the issue either by submitting a new invoice or by issuing a credit note and updating the workflow queue.
